On January 12, 2026, in Compton, California, Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a silver Honda Accord for traffic violations near Central Avenue and Corlett Avenue. Instead of stopping the driver accelerated away, leading officers on a short pursuit through city streets before stopping near Hillford Avenue. Police bodycam footage captures the high-risk stop and DUI investigation as CHP officers made contact with the driver. During the interaction, officers observed multiple signs consistent with alcohol impairment, including red and watery eyes, slurred speech, agitation, and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. An open 1.75L bottle of vodka was also observed inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking vodka mixed with pineapple juice prior to driving and declined to perform field sobriety tests.
