Timothy, 43, of Ave Maria, Florida, exploited his authority to conduct currency verifications on arriving international passengers — the legally mandated moment when a traveler must physically hand a uniformed federal officer their cash to be counted — to systematically skim bills before returning the remainder. Between May 2023 and January 2024, Timothy stole approximately $18,700 across 17 separate incidents at the low-volume general-aviation field that handles a steady stream of private and chartered arrivals from the Bahamas. The case was triggered when a single passenger noticed roughly $2,200 was missing after his cash had been inspected, and filed a complaint with CBP. Airport surveillance footage then showed Timothy, in full uniform, sliding 22 individual bills out of one passenger's stack in real time and never returning them. As part of his plea agreement, Timothy immediately resigned from CBP and agreed to full restitution — including to a Bahamian traveler who arrived in the United States and left the inspection station more than two thousand dollars short through no fault of his own.
