It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On July 11, 2024, around 10:02 PM, Officer Jon Finze of the Wauconda Police Department got a call. Lake Zurich reported a driver possibly under the influence. The car was near Route 12 and Route 22. Officer Finze soon saw a car fitting the description. It approached Route 176 and turned west. He watched the vehicle drive and almost hit a curb. He stopped the car near Brown Street. The driver pulled into a lot by McDonald's. The driver was Amanda Daiello. She told Officer Finze she was going to McDonald's. Amanda also said she was going home. She had dinner with others at Cooper’s Hawk. She admitted to a wine tasting before dinner. While talking to Amanda, Officer Finze saw signs of impairment. Because he suspected impairment, Officer Finze asked Amanda to step out. She then performed field sobriety tests. Officer Finze started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He saw 6 out of 6 indicators of impairment. Next was the Walk and Turn test. Amanda did not keep her heel and toe together. She turned the wrong way. She also took the wrong number of steps. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Amanda did not lift her foot correctly. She put her foot down too soon. After the tests, Amanda could take a PBT. She refused. Officer Finze noted the smell of alcohol. He saw impairment signs. Amanda admitted drinking alcohol. She could not do the tests well. Officer Finze arrested Amanda for drunk driving. He put her in handcuffs. Officer Pet took her to the Wauconda Police Department. At the police station, she heard the Warning to Motorist. She refused to give breath samples. After processing, she was released. She received summonses for court. These were for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. 19:00 Don't matter if you take the breathalyzer or FSTs. 46:40 left without your glasses, know what else you didn't bring?
