A big check will make a big difference to the Medical College of Wisconsin where they are researching the cure for a disease that affects litterally one in a million. Milwaukee Police Sgt. Sebastian Raclaw is that one - and he is raising money for a cure. Hundreds showed up Saturday, September 29, 2012 for a run that took big steps to conducting research into the causes of abdominal cancer. At the end of the day, $10,000 was raised to help in the fight. Sebastian, joined by his medical team and Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn presented the check on behalf of the Milwaukee Police endurance Club to the Medical College of Wisconsin physicians on Monday, October 15, 2012. The run was a benefit to raise money for the the Sebastian Raclaw Abdominal Cancer Research Fund. The goal is to discover a cure within Sebastian's lifetime. Sebastian, a Milwaukee Police Sergeant, was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma-Peritonea or Stage 4 cancer of the abdominal cavity. Sebastian is 35 years old and has 16 years with the Milwaukee Police Department. He is married to Angela Castillo-Raclaw, an elmentary school teacher, and has two beautiful children, Noah who is 21 months old and Isabella who is 4 years old. Sebastian has chosen not to accept direct financial support, but has created a research foundation through the Medical College of Wisconsin. The two doctors treating Sebastian at the Medical College of Wisconsin have agreed to limit all funds received to the following:- researching therapies for this type of rare cancer- study novel chemo therapies with micro particles- perform clinical trials with new therapies- create a regional symposium to facilitate collaboration with the leading experts in this rare and incurable cancer that affects one person in a million.
