A woman, drunk, sat in a Kia. Officer McCarthy arrived at 2:41 AM. He saw a woman in the driver's seat. A passenger was beside her. The driver was Shannon Hayes, aged 21. Shannon said they played pool at the bar. She first denied drinking alcohol. Another officer arrived to help. Shannon was asked to exit the car. She would perform tests for sobriety. Officer McCarthy began with the HGN test. He noted her eyes did not follow smoothly. Her eyes jerked at the farthest points. They also jerked before the 45-degree mark. The next test was Walk and Turn. It happened inside the bar. Snow covered the ground outside. Shannon did not step heel-to-toe. She also turned the wrong way. The last test was One Leg Stand. Shannon could not lift her foot right. She put her foot down too soon. She was in control of the car. Alcohol smelled on her breath. She admitted to drinking. She failed the sobriety tests. Officer McCarthy arrested Shannon. The charge was Physical Control of a Motor Vehicle. After arrest, she told officers about a past OVI arrest. Shannon answered some questions. She admitted to drinking four shots. The liquor was "green tea." Officer McCarthy took Shannon to the station. At the station, she heard the ALS form read. She agreed to breath tests. The breathalyzer showed a BAC of 0.205%. This was over double the legal limit. Shannon was processed. She got a ticket for physical control. A friend picked her up.
