Akron Police observed a silver Honda CRV commit a red light stop bar and crosswalk violation, with a subject with a felony warrant reportedly associated with the vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated near Vernon Odom Boulevard and Diana Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, Rico, and the passenger, Christopher Miller, it was discovered that Rico was driving under suspension, and Miller was not wearing his seatbelt. During the initial interaction, Miller displayed extreme nervousness, evident from his rapid breathing and fidgeting. When asked if he had a gun, Miller admitted to having one in his blue book bag, which he described as a green Glock 17 loaded with a 30-round magazine. Following Miller's admission, he was detained, and the firearm was seized after he was read his Miranda rights. Miller confessed that the gun was his and claimed it was for protection. Upon inspection, the firearm matched Miller's description, with a fully loaded magazine and one round in the chamber. The firearm was appropriately handled and tagged into evidence. Miller was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) and improper handling of a firearm and transported to Dan Street. The driver received a citation, and the vehicle remained parked. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
