On February 7th, 2025, officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission conducted an offshore patrol near the Deerfield Beach Pier when a routine resource inspection of a commercial dive vessel escalated into multiple citations and an arrest. As officers approached the vessel in a marked FWC patrol boat with emergency lights activated, they observed lobsters being thrown overboard during the inspection process. Officers later determined the individual was in possession of more spiny lobsters than the legal daily bag limit, interfered with a lawful FWC inspection, and failed to properly measure lobsters at the time of harvest.
