It had been heading east on Bloomfield Avenue. The driver was also using a phone. Officer Seubert turned around. He drove south on Lakeside Avenue. He then saw the Ford Focus swerve. It wasn't staying in its lane. He turned on his lights to stop the car. The driver pulled over near Cunningham Drive. Officer Seubert stopped Ashley, age 29. He said she used a phone and swerved. Ashley said her boyfriend was sick. She drove to the Caldwell Diner, but went the wrong way. The officer asked where her boyfriend lived. First, she said the Verona Tavern. Then, she said the Verona Inn. The Inn is a bar in Verona, New Jersey. Ashley said she had one shot there before driving. Later, she said she had two. Officer Seubert asked for her license and registration. Officer Clark came to help as he walked back to his car. Lieutenant Scheper arrived. Officers thought Ashley seemed impaired. They asked her to step out of the car for field sobriety tests. First, she did the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Officer Seubert watched her eyes. He saw jerking and movement at certain angles. Next, Ashley tried the Walk and Turn test. She didn't touch heel-to-toe. Her steps were off. She couldn't turn correctly. Finally, she did the One Leg Stand test. Ashley couldn't lift her foot right. She lost her balance. Ashley's driving was all over the place. Officer Seubert smelled alcohol. Ashley even said she had been drinking. She failed the roadside tests badly. Seubert arrested Ashley for drunk driving. Her car was seized. John's Law meant it would be held for 12 hours. Next, they took her to the Verona Police Department. They needed to process her. Ashley's night took a turn with the Verona Police. Officers read her the rules for drivers. She agreed to a breath test. The test showed a 0.22% BAC. That's almost three times the legal limit. Police finished their reports. A friend signed a form for Ashley. Then, she was free to go with him. But she got several tickets. These included DUI and reckless driving. Other tickets were for using her phone while driving. She also got tickets for not staying in her lane. Plus, she made an improper turn. An open container of alcohol was in the car too. There was unsealed cannabis as well. Ashley faced a judge on June 13, 2024. Court papers show what happened that day. She was guilty of drunk driving. A careless driving ticket became a traffic issue. The judge ordered penalties because of the guilty verdict. Ashley needed a device in her car for 3 months. She also had to go to a driver safety class for 12 hours. Fines totaled $880. As part of a deal, other tickets were dropped. Five other citations went away. 1:11 Officer: He lives at the Verona Tavern? 3:14 Fourth time he’s asked where she’s coming from! 8:40 I mean, you can’t listen to that song and NOT sing If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
