On June 24, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers were called to Walmart. Management was reporting that an employee showed up for work under the influence and was fired. The 20-year-old became erratic and argumentative and was attempting to drive away from the premises. As officers arrived, the woman drove off. Officers followed the woman and initiated a traffic stop. Although the woman denied consuming alcohol, she was instructed to exit her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the tests, she was placed under arrest. At the Las Cruces police station, she provided two breath samples which registered 0.16% and 0.17% BAC. She was charged with (1) Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence (DWI) of Liquor; and (2) Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. On October 23, 2025, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of Non-Aggravated DWI. Both of the original charges were dismissed. Her sentence included completing DWI School, performing Community Service, and installing an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle.
