On March 28, 2025, at approximately 2:40 p.m., local police officers observed two men acting suspiciously and seemingly concealing items. Moments later, officers witnessed one of the individuals raising a glass pipe to his mouth and lighting it. When law enforcement approached and identified themselves, the suspects attempted to discard their glass pipes. Both men were immediately placed under arrest. Backup units arrived on the scene to assist. A search of the younger suspect revealed two small containers holding a white rocklike substance suspected to be crack cocaine. At police headquarters, it was discovered that the older suspect had multiple active arrest warrants across several jurisdictions and was also positively identified as the perpetrator in an attempted package theft reported a week prior. Both individuals were charged with multiple offenses, including possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled dangerous substances, before being transported to the county correctional facility. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
