A man from Cleveland is now facing several felony charges following a high-speed chase with the Ohio State Highway Patrol through the city. The driver, who had his one-year-old child in the back seat, struck several vehicles and sped through numerous intersections and red lights. Troopers involved in Cleveland’s Violent Crime Reduction Initiative attempted to stop a black Toyota SUV for window tint violations and missing visible registration. The driver, however, refused to pull over, leading to the end of the initial pursuit. At this point, the Ohio State Highway Patrol's aviation unit took over from above, tracking the suspect. The individual, identified as Bobby Foster Jr. from Cleveland, briefly stopped at a residence on Garfield Avenue to discard an item before getting back in the vehicle and continuing to flee. Subsequently, an unmarked police vehicle tried to intercept him, but Foster intentionally rammed the officer’s car, according to reports from OSHP. “So, you guys are chasing my nephew right now on the freeway,” a relative of Foster said during a call to OSHP. “And he has a baby in the car.” A dispatcher responded, “Is he going to pull over for us?” The chase carried on through Cleveland, with Foster Jr. colliding with another car while making a turn. Eventually, officers received authorization to use a pit maneuver to halt the black SUV. After a failed attempt, they successfully ended the pursuit at E. 105th and Everton Avenue with a second maneuver. Foster then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police soon discovered the one-year-old child in the back seat of the crashed SUV. Fortunately, the child was unharmed but was checked by EMS on the scene and later taken to a local hospital as a precaution at the family’s request. With the help of the aviation unit, ground officers were able to capture Foster Jr. Open containers and illegal drugs were reportedly found in the suspect’s vehicle, according to OSHP. Foster Jr. was handed over to the Parole Authority for a parole violation and was subsequently incarcerated in the Cuyahoga County jail. He now faces multiple felony charges, including felonious assault on a police officer and child endangerment, as stated by the OSHP.
