On October 6, 2023, Federal Way police officers were dispatched to a roll-over accident. Witnesses described the 20-year-old driver of a black SUV speeding and then plow right into the back of another vehicle. The force of the collision caused the SUV to lose control, take out the fence of a nearby home, and rollover. When Corporal Mariani arrived and interviewed the driver of the SUV, she asked the woman if she had been drinking. She initially denied consuming alcohol, but she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests nonetheless. She was eventually placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Federal Way police station. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.191% BAC. She was then taken to the hospital for medical clearance and it was discovered that she broke her wrist during the collision. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence and online court records show her case is still open. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
