On April 15, 2026, California Highway Patrol Officer McIntosh was parked in the center median of Interstate 80 in Solano, California, when a speeding 1999 Corvette was caught on radar allegedly doing 148 miles per hour (MPH) in a 65 MPH zone. Officer McIntosh gave chase and after hitting speeds of 130 MPH, he was able to catch up to the Corvette that had to slow down for traffic. The Corvette was being driven by a 20-year-old man. Instead of arresting the man for Reckless Driving and towing the Corvette, Officer McIntosh cited the driver for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 22348(B), which is speeding in excess of 100 MPH. Although this violation is only an infraction, it carries large fines and the possibility of license suspension.
