A man has been identified and charged after stealing a car from Cleveland Hopkins Airport and leading police on a two-state chase that resulted in a crash involving a police cruiser, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). The suspect, 23-year-old Makele Scruggs, led authorities on a pursuit from Cleveland to Interstate 76 in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he was eventually apprehended. During the chase, Scruggs drove through Boardman, Ohio, causing a crash involving a state trooper's cruiser at a busy intersection. The trooper was responding to the pursuit when their vehicle collided with another car. Earlier in the chase, Scruggs also struck a different cruiser. In Ohio, Scruggs faces charges of failure to comply, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and felonious assault. In Pennsylvania, court records show he is charged with receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, fleeing or attempting to elude officers, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, careless driving, and several minor traffic violations.
