On Friday, June 10, 2022, a Sergeant with the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety initiated a traffic stop on a white truck with Indiana license plates in the 1900 block of South Atlantic Avenue. The officer conducted the stop in reference to an illegal window tint violation. Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the Sergeant located two open bottles of Twisted Tea malt beverage on the floorboard between the passenger's feet. The officer noted that the bottles were cool to the touch and had condensation forming on the exterior. The passenger, identified as an 18-year-old female, admitted that the alcoholic beverages belonged to her. She was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Knowingly and Willingly Possessing Alcohol Under the Age of 21. The suspect was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail, and the entire interaction was captured on department-issued body-worn cameras.
