According to Shenandoah Assistant Police Chief Barry Gresham, five suspects loaded two cars with items in the store’s rear parking lot around 3:45 p.m., but were quickly stopped by employees who called police. Two suspects fled on foot south along David Memorial Drive and into a nearby wooded area, while the two getaway vehicles tried to leave the lot. The vehicles collided with each other, and a black Dodge Charger hit a Shenandoah police cruiser, causing minor damage. The Charger continued onto nearby roads, hitting a curb and losing a front tire before stopping. Two men, later identified as 20-year-old Darryl Lee and 17-year-old Davonta Lee, ran back into the parking lot and were arrested after a brief foot chase. Darryl Lee faces additional charges for felony evading arrest. Meanwhile, a white Toyota getaway car continued north on the I-45 frontage road, made a U-turn at Texas 242, and briefly eluded officers before being found abandoned at a nearby construction site. The three remaining suspects – including the two who fled on foot and the Toyota driver – have not yet been located. All stolen merchandise has been returned to Home Depot. Montgomery County Sheriff’s K-9 units and DPS air support assisted Shenandoah officers in the search.
