On February 4th, 2025, officers with the Moline Police Department responded to a Walmart in Moline, Illinois after Loss Prevention reported an active retail theft in progress. Store employees observed two women moving through multiple sections of the store with shopping carts and tote bins, concealing merchandise without paying. According to police, Loss Prevention monitored the pair on security cameras for an extended period as they selected and hid a large quantity of items, including clothing, bedding, food, and small appliances. Officers apprehended both women in the vestibule after the final point of sale and escorted them to the Loss Prevention office. The total value of the stolen merchandise exceeded $1,700, resulting in felony retail theft charges. Both suspects were handcuffed, advised of their rights, and transported to the Rock Island County Jail for booking.
