On March 21, 2024, several police agencies received calls about a reckless driver. Officers from Cuyahoga Falls, the Village of Silver Lake, and Stow located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit. The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, drove mostly on the wrong side of the road at very high speeds. Eventually, an officer was able to deploy a spike strip, which successfully deflated the tires on the woman's vehicle. Officers boxed her in and were able to bring the pursuit to an end. However, the woman refused to open her car door, so officers used an ASP baton to shatter her window. She was extricated from the vehicle and was arrested. Her excuse was that she was trying to get a local pharmacy to pick up her medication. She was transported to the Stow police station for booking. The police report indicates she was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and submitted a urine specimen. She was then transported to the local hospital for medical clearance before being taken to the Summit County Jail. Her charges are discussed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
