On December 1, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Sgt. Whitten responded to a car accident, where the at-fault vehicle fled the scene. Sgt. Whitten located the 60-year-old woman driving the at-fault vehicle a short distance away. Officer Koger arrived to perform field sobriety testing once an open container of alcohol was found in the woman's vehicle. She was eventually placed under arrest and was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station. She refused to provide breath samples.
