On Monday, August 3, 2026, at approximately an unspecified time, Cpl. Ben Ibarra #173 was patrolling near John Barrow Road and Colonel Glenn Road in Little Rock when he observed a gray 2015 Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound on John Barrow Road with what appeared to be a defective tail lamp. Cpl. Ibarra turned around and confirmed the vehicle was traveling 54 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. As he approached the vehicle, the driver made several turns before Cpl. Ibarra initiated a traffic stop near 36th Street and Boyd Avenue. The driver was identified as Christian J. Anderson, 29. According to the report, Anderson was immediately confrontational and initially refused to provide identification. After Cpl. Ibarra identified him through the information provided and the vehicle registration, he informed Anderson that he had outstanding warrants and would be placed in handcuffs pending confirmation. According to the report, Anderson initially pulled away slowly before actively resisting and attempting to flee. During the struggle, Anderson allegedly swung at Cpl. Ibarra. The officer pushed Anderson against the vehicle and repeatedly ordered him to roll over so he could be handcuffed. The struggle continued on the ground, where Anderson allegedly tucked his arms underneath himself and resisted attempts to secure his hands. The report states Anderson then bit Cpl. Ibarra on the right hand, leaving a visible bruise. Cpl. Ibarra struck Anderson several times in the face as Anderson continued to resist and allegedly attempted to grab the officer's uniform and equipment. Anderson eventually rolled over and attempted to swing at the officer again. Cpl. Ibarra was able to secure both of Anderson's arms and, after additional officers arrived, handcuffed him. During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers located a Ruger LCP handgun underneath the driver's seat. Anderson was evaluated by EMS at the scene and later transported to Baptist Health after claiming he was experiencing an asthma attack. According to the report, EMS did not observe signs of an asthma attack and cleared him on more than one occasion. While at the hospital, Anderson allegedly continued to act unruly toward Cpl. Ibarra and hospital staff. The report states Anderson made comments indicating that Cpl. Ibarra was "lucky" he had not made it back to his vehicle and allegedly insinuated that he would have used the handgun against the officer. Anderson was subsequently cleared from the hospital and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center. During transport, he allegedly threatened to find Cpl. Ibarra after his release. Anderson was booked on multiple charges, including **Battery in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Carrying a Weapon, Expired Tags, No Liability Insurance, Defective Tail Lamp, Driving With a Suspended License, and Speeding.** All allegations described above are based on the officer's report and court records should be consulted for the disposition of the charges.
