When approached and informed of the warrant, Curtis tried to pull away. Officers Geraci, Moore, and Kozak then arrested her. During the arrest, she resisted commands, refusing to let go of her purse or get into the squad car, requiring officers to physically remove the purse. While being placed in the squad car, Curtis kicked Officer Geraci in the leg. Curtis was taken to the police department, searched, and then charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest. She was subsequently booked and transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office for the outstanding warrant.
