What begins as a suspected DUI investigation quickly turns into an extraordinary display of insults, threats, name-dropping and repeated demands to know whether the officer knows who he is dealing with. The driver is Maria Bucci, chairwoman of the Cranston Democratic City Committee and First Vice President of the Rhode Island Association of Democratic City & Town Chairs. She is also a former Cranston city councilwoman and has previously run for mayor and the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Bucci was charged with misdemeanor DUI and refusing to submit to a chemical test.
