Report: On 7/31/2025 I was traveling eastbound on Flint River Rd when I attempted a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger. The drive Mr. Smith failed to pull over before turning onto Kendrick Rd and taking off from me accelerating over 35 mph + on the wrong side of the road. Mr. Smith ran several stop signs before crashing into a utility pole and nearly striking a house. Mr. Smith exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot from me. I pursued Mr. Smith on foot and attempted to deploy my taser which was unsuccessful. Following the failed taser deployment I was able to apprehend him a short distance from the vehicle. I initially attempted to stop Mr. Smith for his window tint and cutting off vehicles from the left turning lane at Flint River Rd and Taylor Rd. Once Mr. Smith took off, he spent most of his time driving on the wrong side of the road in a residential area where the speed limit was 30mph. The vehicle he was operating had a suspended registration and no valid insurance. Mr. Smith stated that when he first saw me, he was trying to create distance between us because he knew the vehicle did not have insurance and he was scared. Mr. Smith was transported to the Clayton County jail without further incident. This incident was captured on body worn and dash camera.
