Full Report: Name: Darius Demon Clark (26, Male) Vehicle: 2025 White Nissan Altima On 04/11/2025 at approximately 11:49 PM, I was traveling northbound on Riverdale Road, directly across from the Riverwalk Apartments located at Riverwalk Place and Riverdale Road. I observed a white Nissan Altima traveling southbound. The vehicle, driven by Darius Clark, performed a U-turn in front of me as I was traveling northbound, approximately 30 feet before I passed the median. This maneuver caused me to brake hard to avoid colliding with Mr. Clark. I briefly pulled alongside Mr. Clark to observe whether he was driving while distracted. I then maneuvered behind the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, activating my blue lights and siren. The Nissan Altima began to merge onto I-285 Eastbound. I chirped my siren again in an attempt to signal Mr. Clark to pull over. Mr. Clark then accelerated and turned off his headlights and taillights—commonly known as “blacking out.” Based on my training and experience, this tactic is commonly used by suspects fleeing law enforcement to camouflage their vehicle and evade capture. I notified Clayton County Communications of the overt action to evade and initiated a pursuit. Mr. Clark merged and swerved between multiple lanes, reaching speeds of approximately 100 MPH and higher while continuing eastbound on I-285. I continued radio traffic in an effort to get units close enough to assist in stopping the vehicle. Mr. Clark, traveling in the far-right lane, attempted to exit onto S. Outer Loop Road before I could merge. Based on my knowledge that this is a common fleeing tactic, I safely maneuvered across two lanes and closed distance. Mr. Clark turned right onto Lake Mirror Road, traveling southbound at speeds of approximately 70–85 MPH. At the end of Lake Mirror Road, Mr. Clark drove around a large raised median. I followed closely and maneuvered within approximately 10 feet of his vehicle. I considered attempting to take the vehicle off the roadway; however, there were vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. Mr. Clark crossed into the intersection at Lake Mirror Road and Clark Howell Highway without stopping. The light in our direction of travel was red. I exercised due regard and entered the intersection after other vehicles came to a complete stop. We continued northbound on Lake Mirror Road. Approaching S. Outer Loop Road, Mr. Clark made a right turn without yielding and nearly struck another vehicle. We then traveled eastbound on S. Outer Loop Road toward Clark Howell Highway. Mr. Clark made a wide turn, allowing me to close distance. I made contact with Mr. Clark’s vehicle: I placed the left corner of my bumper into the right rear portion of his bumper and turned. His vehicle broke traction, but he regained control and continued eastbound. I then maneuvered to the left side of his vehicle, placed the right corner of my bumper onto the left rear portion of his bumper, and applied pressure, causing his car to spin and complete a full 180-degree turn, facing the opposite direction. Mr. Clark exited the vehicle and fled on foot northbound into the wood line. I attempted to apprehend him before he entered the woods, but dense vines and bushes made it difficult. I requested backup units and a K-9 unit. I then searched the abandoned vehicle and located a large black bag containing approximately 38.7 grams of marijuana, along with a black digital scale. I also located $3,022 in various denominations. Based on the totality of the circumstances and my narcotics training and experience, I believed Mr. Clark fled in an effort to conceal narcotics activity. Units arrived and a perimeter was established. Lovejoy Police Department K-9 Mercy responded and successfully located and apprehended Mr. Clark a short distance from where I lost sight of him. Mr. Clark was taken into custody. An inventory of the vehicle was conducted. I located a black bag containing a Sony camera and took possession of the camera for safekeeping. Deputy Meeks searched Mr. Clark and located additional currency on his person. I also located several bills of currency inside the vehicle’s center console. I counted the money in front of Deputy Meeks while my body camera recorded; the total amount was $3,022. A wrecker was requested and New Image Towing responded. I also requested Georgia State Patrol to respond due to my patrol vehicle making contact with Mr. Clark’s vehicle. I transported Mr. Clark to the Hospital for evaluation. Upon discharge, I transported him to the Clayton County Jail and released him into the custody of jail intake staff.
