Thomas Henry - On October 8th, 2022, Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an incident involving a possible drunk driver in the late hours of that Saturday night. When officers arrived on the scene they learned the suspect was the city’s mayor, Tom Henry who had been driving home with his wife and mother-in-law. Officers spoke with the suspect who had been at an event that night and told officers he had "too many glasses of wine at a fundraiser". Officers escorted his wife and mother-in-law home while they questioned the suspect. During speaking with officers the suspect admitted to having “clipped” another driver's side-view mirror while driving at a traffic circle. The other driver was uninjured in the accident. Officers called for the Sergeant for further instruction, however, the suspect got progressively frustrated waiting for the Sgt. to arrive. After the Sgt. arrived at the scene he spoke with the suspect and explained they must do the due process of their DUI investigation. Another officer took a breath sample from the suspect his BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) read 0.152, the legal limit is 0.08. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and placed him in handcuffs. The suspect was open with his upset at officers for arresting him and asked several officers for their names at the time of the arrest. The suspect was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Endangering a Person, and Operating a Vehicle with an Alcohol Concentration Equivalent to 0.15 or More. In court, a Judge sentenced the suspect to a suspended jail term of 365 days.
