The indictment follows the release of new body and dash camera footage by the Akron Police Department, depicting the moments surrounding the rescue of the child and the arrest of Spence. The Amber Alert issued on March 1 was prompted by the report from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, stating that a Black 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck had been taken from the Marshallville Dollar General, with a sleeping juvenile in the back seat. The incident occurred around 2:11 p.m., and the alert was issued approximately 30 minutes later. Akron police received a call for assistance in locating the truck around 3:12 p.m. Using the Flock camera license plate reader, officers received two alerts within three minutes, aiding in pinpointing the child and suspect's location in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood. The Wooster man accused of stealing the truck with a 2-year-old boy inside, triggering the Amber Alert, has been indicted on multiple felony charges. A Wayne County grand jury indicted 54-year-old Larry Spence on charges including kidnapping, abduction, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. Spence's next court appearance is yet to be scheduled.
