What started as a routine suspended license stop in Orange County, Florida turned into a three-felony arrest — all because of one decision. On March 8, 2023, a traffic enforcement officer ran a plate and found a suspended license with a state-issued cease tag order. When he explained that the vehicle would be impounded, the driver — identified as Jasmine — had an explanation ready: she had gone to the courthouse the day before, made a payment, and had the paperwork to prove it. The problem? A courthouse payment does not automatically update the state database. Her license still showed suspended. Four prior suspensions on record. And a cease tag order is not erased by a receipt. When officers began processing the stop, Jasmine exited her vehicle and approached the patrol car, refusing repeated orders to return. Officers invoked their constitutional authority under Pennsylvania v. Mimms. She told them they were not her boss. Then she got back in the car — and drove away. What happens next is the video. Under Florida Statute § 316.1935, leaving an active traffic stop is fleeing and eluding — a third-degree felony carrying up to five years in state prison. When officers located the vehicle and attempted to take her into custody, Jasmine resisted. Officers allege she made physical contact during the takedown, which under Florida Statute § 843.01 elevates the charge to resisting an officer with violence — a second felony, separate count, separate penalty. She was also charged with obstruction without violence. Total exposure: three charges. Multiple felony counts. Up to 15+ years across all counts combined. In this video, we break down every legal threshold, analyze the officer's decisions under constitutional authority, grade each party's conduct, and explain exactly how a suspended license stop became something far more serious in under fifteen minutes. ⚠️ Content Advisory: This video contains body camera footage of a physical arrest and use of force.
