On November 29, 2024, Elyria Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident described at an auto versus tree. An off-duty firefighter extracted the 21-year-old driver from the crashed vehicle and had her resting on a nearby lawn when first responders arrived. The woman claimed she swerved to avoid a rabbit, but she also admitted to consuming a White Claw alcoholic beverage hours earlier. At the hospital, she consented to a blood draw. She received citations for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and Failure to Control. On April 9, 2025, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of Having Physical Control of a Vehicle Under the Influence. She also pleaded guilty to the Failure to Control charge. She paid a fine of $475 plus court costs and her license was suspended for 3 months.
