On November 29, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, Highway Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop that escalated into a brief vehicle pursuit on Interstate 110. Officers observed a white Chevrolet Equinox committing multiple traffic violations, including unsafe lane movements and speeds estimated around 80 mph. When officers activated emergency lights and sirens, the driver failed to yield, continuing for approximately 2.5 miles before stopping. Police bodycam footage captures the high-risk stop and DUI investigation that followed. Upon contact, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The driver displayed objective signs of impairment, including red and watery eyes, slurred and mumbled speech, and difficulty maintaining balance. The driver refused multiple field sobriety tests and initially declined a preliminary alcohol screening. During the investigation, officers located a firearm and magazines inside the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody and later agreed to a breath test at the CHP station, which returned results of approximately 0.072% and 0.070% BAC. The driver later stated he did not stop because he was nervous and intoxicated.
