LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - A Lorain city council member was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) after crashing his truck into a gas pump on April 2nd. Anthony Dimacchia was charged with OVI and refusing to submit to OVI testing on that day, according to police. Body camera footage shows officers arriving at an Erie Avenue gas station, where they found Dimacchia behind the wheel, appearing to be "staring off into space." His vehicle had struck a barrier near the gas pump and was still in gear, with only the barrier preventing it from moving forward, police said. Dimacchia was then taken to the police department, where officers reported that he refused a breath test. Besides serving as a councilperson, Dimacchia holds the position of Director of Operations at Lorain City Schools. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
