On this day July 4, 2024, at approximately 0100 hours, I Deputy DL Weems (32993) with the Clayton County Sheriff Office (9157 Tara Blvd. Jonesboro Ga 30236 was assigned to the sector 2 aera in Riverdale Ga. I was at the top of Tara Blvd and Upper Riverdale Rd where I see a Black Kia runs the stop sign on Lee's Mill Rd and upper Riverdale Rd making a right-hand turn without stopping at the stop sign with no signal indicator on car. I got behind the vehicle in turned on my county blue emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The final stop was at Upper Riverdale Rd and Arrowhead Blvd at the Chevron gas station (224 upper Riverdale rd.). As i ran tag to the black Kia GA tag (redacted) and waiting for it to come back on GCIC/NCIC. I got out my unit to get ready to approach the black KIA the diver (MR Cedrick Dennis 6/11/1993) put his car back in drive and took off on the traffic stop putting me in pursuit, to start fleeing from me. All of this was caught on BC(Body Camara) and DC(Dash Camara) both video footage was uploaded to Axon. Mr. Dennis was driving at a high rate of speed doing 100plus going West bound on upper Riverdale rd. heading to HWY 85. As giving out the information to dispatch Mr. Dennis is going pass multiple red lights and as he was getting to HWY 85. Once Mr. Dennis got to Hwy 85 made an improper left turn going South bound on hwy85 driving on the wrong side of the road. I Deputy Weems saw the opportunity to attempt a (PIT) Precision Immobilization Technique on the Kia. Made contact with the back driver side rear bumper causing Mr. Dinnis car to spin out into the oncoming lane of traffic. Once the vehicle came to a complete stop. I was giving Mr. Dennis loud verbal commands to show me his hands to put them behind his back to place him in custody. As a search was done on Mr. Dennis ended up finding on his person green leafy substance in a clear bag. Maranda Rights was read to Mr. Dennis The clear bags were taking into the Sheriff Office evidence and is place in (lockbox 2). The weight of it came out to be 17.25g. was then place in the back of my car and taking to the Clayton County Jail. Mr. Dennis car was towed by New Image towing. EMS came out to examen Mr. Dennis due to that the driver airbag deployed. Mr Dennis was cleared by EMS. Georgia State Patrol came out to work the scene.
