The city of Canton released footage showing Tyson's arrest and subsequent death last week. Tyson, 53, died after being subdued and handcuffed inside the AMVETS building on Sherrick Road SE. He crashed his car into a utility pole and then ran into the building. The bodycam video shows police taking Tyson to the floor as he screamed they were trying to kill him. While on the floor, one officer applied pressure to Tyson's back while another handcuffed him. Tyson said several times "I can't breathe." He went silent less than a minute later. The officers left Tyson face down on the floor for nearly 8 minutes before realizing he had no pulse. They then removed the handcuffs and administered chest compressions. Canton police have handed the investigation to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and officers Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch have been placed on administrative leave. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
