#Bodycam #PoliceChase #CaughtOnCamera Bodycam: Free Hotel Room Goes From Free Stay to Full Destruction In December 2024, police in Oaklair, Wisconsin, were dispatched to a hotel after staff reported 30-year-old Danielle, whose stay was being funded by the Department of Corrections, was yelling and causing a disturbance. Already well-known to law enforcement for prior arrests involving disorderly conduct and trespassing, Danielle refused to leave her room, claiming she saw “black widows” and suffered from phobias. As officers entered, she resisted removal, shouted incoherently, and struggled against restraint. The hotel room was left in disarray, and probation was billed $1,500 for damages, including repainting and replacement of furniture. Danielle was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, both as repeat offenses, and released on a $1,000 signature bond. Four months later, police in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, faced a strikingly similar situation with 49-year-old Anne. Hotel staff reported she had caused severe damage, dragged a bed frame into the hallway, and was knocking on guest doors. Confronted by officers, Anne gave multiple fake names and refused to leave. When arrested, two knives were found within reach, and she had to be tased after resisting. A search revealed drug paraphernalia and stolen IDs. At the hospital, she continued resisting, forcing staff to identify her using old booking photos. Anne was ultimately confirmed to have an active probation warrant and a misdemeanor bond condition not to reoffend. She was charged with felony battery threat to an officer, along with multiple misdemeanor counts, but was still released on a $2,000 signature bond. Both cases highlight how probation-funded or hotel-based stays spiraled into chaotic, destructive incidents — costing property damage, straining police resources, and leaving many questioning whether the lenient bonds were justified.
