A 51-year-old man with a master's degree in clinical psychology ran from a Peachtree City police officer over a seatbelt violation, hitting speeds officers estimated at 130 mph on Highway 54 in Fayette County, Georgia, before crashing into a tree. That was just the start. The tag on his Audi A6 came back to a different vehicle entirely, a Ford Escape sold years earlier. When officers dug into the Audi's registration, it led to a woman whose identity had been stolen years before. She had never owned an Audi. Five weeks later, Peachtree City PD had warrants for 51-year-old Samson Burrell: felony fleeing and eluding, and felony identity fraud. He was facing 14 charges. After a negotiated plea, he was sentenced on just one. Then our team dug into what happened after sentencing. 📅 Incident date: February 11, 2024 📍 Location: Peachtree City, Georgia 🚔 Agency: Peachtree City Police Department What do you think of the plea deal? Was one count the right call for a case that started with 14 charges?
