On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Kewanee Police Department officers responded to a civil disturbance at a local gas station regarding a dispute over a pizza refund. Upon arrival, officers attempted to mediate the situation involving a customer arguing over a pricing discrepancy, but when the group was trespassed from the property, one individual damaged a display shelf and threw merchandise on the floor. As officers attempted to take the primary suspect into custody, two associates physically obstructed the officers' path, escalating the encounter into a brawl where officers were pushed and struck, an officer’s earpiece was ripped out, and another was kicked. All three suspects were subsequently arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail on multiple charges, including Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing, and Criminal Damage to Property.
