A driver ran from Arkansas State Police in a C8 Corvette at 156 mph, got stop-sticked at the Missouri line, brake-checked a trooper, ran through a field — and then told police he'd just 'buy another one.' On June 15, 2026, ASP Trooper Arellano tried to stop a red C8 Corvette with a covered plate and expired tags on I-55. The driver, Jayden Smith, fled at speeds up to 156 mph and crossed into Missouri, where state troopers deployed stop sticks. After a brake-check collided the Corvette with a patrol car, Smith ran on foot before surrendering. His backpack held three high-performance key fobs and his license; a small amount of suspected marijuana was found in the car. Smith was held pending extradition and charged with felony fleeing creating substantial danger of death and numerous other counts, including no insurance.
