On December 22, 2025, a California Highway Patrol officer responded to a crash near Midway Road and Gentile Lane in Solano County, California. When the officer arrived, he found a white Ford F-150 off the roadway and down in a drainage ditch. A witness told CHP that the driver entered a driveway, made a U-turn, and drove directly into the ditch. No injuries or property damage were reported. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver and noticed that his speech was low and mumbled. The driver had difficulty standing still and following instructions. While answering questions before the field sobriety tests, he collapsed onto the asphalt. The Dixon Fire Department evaluated the driver and cleared him to continue with the DUI investigation. During the field sobriety tests, the driver struggled to maintain his balance and repeatedly had to sit on the push bumper of the CHP patrol vehicle. During two tests, he reportedly stopped and said, “I’m shaking too much.” The driver submitted to preliminary alcohol screening tests, producing BAC readings of .105% and .109%. He was arrested and transported to the Solano CHP office, where evidential chemical breath tests produced results of .100% and .099%. A .109% BAC is 1.36 times California’s 0.08% legal limit. The driver was booked into the Solano County Jail on the following charges: • California Vehicle Code 23152(a) - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol • California Vehicle Code 23152(b) - Driving With a BAC of .08% or Greater The primary investigating officer stated that he was not wearing a body-worn camera during the initial contact. A second CHP officer activated his body camera after the encounter developed into a DUI investigation. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
