*Everyone please welcome K9 "ACE", who's one of ASP's newest K9's! Thanks Trooper Escamilla for becoming a K9 Handler and we look forward to seeing more of you and "ACE" very soon!* On 12-4-25, I, Trooper A. Escamilla was contacted by Trooper Miller to run K9 ACE on a refusal on Interstate 4o East near the 102 mile marker. I arrived on scene and Trooper Miller had both occupants exit the vehicle and go approximately 30-40 feet in front of the vehicle. I deployed K9 ACE on the vehicle and on the detail sniff, I presented high on an open window. K9 ACE sniffed the exterior of the vehicle and on the passenger side he closed his mouth, and focused on the area.K9 ACE sniffed the area for several seconds. K9 ACE methodically sniffed around the area. K9 ACE indicted by laying and staring at the passenger side door. A total of approximately $12,000.00 was located in the center console of the vehicle. The driver stated that they flew from Maryland to Los Angeles to purchase a vehicle, however, they did not purchase it. The driver stated that they decided to drive back instead of flying back. The currency was not enough to seize.
