On November 24, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a shooting at Walmart. Officers arrived to discover a man down in the parking lot. First aid was rendered until EMS arrived. A security guard advised officers that the suspect vehicle was a Silver Camaro. The victim was transported to the hospital where it was revealed that he had been shot once and the bullet exited his abdomen. He claimed the shooter was a woman that he knew and that he believed she was attempting to kidnap him and steal his car. Officers located the woman and arrested her. She was interviewed by detectives and claimed the victim owed her money and she and a male suspect arrived at the Walmart in an attempt to scare him. The woman denied being the shooter even though the victim identified her as the person who pulled the trigger. On January 15, 2025, the woman was indicted by a Grand Jury on the following FELONY charges: (1) Armed Robbery; (2) Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery; (3) Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon; (4) Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; and (5) Tampering with Evidence. On June 30, 2025, all of the charges were dismissed by the prosecutor.
