Clark County Sheriff’s bodycam captures a DUI investigation that turned deadly inside a Washington State Patrol breath-testing room in Ridgefield, Washington. On May 7, 2025, Deputy Bryson Layton transported Marc Fogle for a breath-alcohol test after a crash. Inside the room, Fogle questioned whether the deputy was alone and resisted as Layton tried to reapply the handcuffs. Layton reported that Fogle reached for his firearm; investigators later found Fogle’s blood on the weapon. The bodycam did not capture the entire use of force. Fogle was stabbed 17 times and died. The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations completed its investigation in March 2026 and forwarded its findings to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Fogle’s family later filed a $27 million claim alleging unjustified force and improperly muted body-camera audio. The allegations have not been adjudicated.
