On May 29, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a call regarding a possibly intoxicated driver. Corporal Chastain located the vehicle as it was about to drive away from a yogurt shop. The vehicle was being driven by a 43-year-old woman. Her daughter had also arrived and was attempting to stop her mother from driving because of her level of intoxication. Officer Roskos arrived to conduct a DUI investigation. The woman indicated that she did not purchase yogurt because she was too drunk and she admitted to consuming 3 Fire Ball shots. The woman agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the tests, she was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where she agreed to provide breath samples. Her 2 samples registered 0.22% and 0.21% BAC. She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
