But when detectives repeatedly asked where JJ was and whether something had happened to him, Hannon eventually admitted that the baby was “hurt bad.” Investigators continued pressing him for answers, asking whether JJ had fallen or if something else had happened. Hannon denied both explanations but still wouldn’t clearly explain how the baby disappeared. Then, one day after JJ was reported missing, deputies found the 11-month-old partially buried near a ditch. The medical examination raised even more disturbing questions about what happened before JJ died, and investigators said evidence suggested the baby may have still been alive when he was buried. Hannon was ultimately arrested and charged with intentional child abuse resulting in death. During questioning, investigators also confronted Hannon about allegedly leaving JJ because he believed the baby was already dead.
