On July 4, 2023, Volusia County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a strip-mall clothing store. The manager explained that a woman had entered the store with a large handbag. In addition, she was wearing a large hoodie which covered most of her face. The manager claims she asked the 20-year-old woman to leave her oversized handbag at the front of the store, but she refused. The manager was seeking the Sheriff's assistance in having the woman trespassed from the store. When the deputies asked the woman for her name and date of birth, she provided false information. The encounter escalated when she was detained and placed in handcuffs. When they escorted the woman outside to the police vehicle, the woman became vile, disgusting, and completely out of control. She was charged with 4 felony counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, 1 felony count of resisting with violence, and 1 misdemeanor count of providing false identification. She remained in custody, unable to post $7,000 bail. On August 31, 2023, she pled guilty to all 6 charges. She was sentenced to 250 days in the county jail and she was fined approximately $1,120. In addition, she was placed on probation for 2 years.
