He Lit a Blunt in Front of Atlanta Police—Then They Found Promethazine On June 6, 2025, an Atlanta Police officer assigned to the Field Investigation Team was patrolling near a Texaco gas station on Northside Drive when he noticed a man openly smoking what appeared to be marijuana outside the store. What began as a simple encounter quickly turned into something much bigger. According to police, officers recovered additional marijuana and a bottle of promethazine from a black bag the man was carrying. During the investigation, officers also discovered what appeared to be a handgun—but it was actually a cigarette lighter designed to look like a firearm. The man reportedly told officers that the promethazine was fake and that he purchased it from someone on the street.
