It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At around 8:40 PM on January 3, 2025, Officer Nicholas Losurdo from the Hoboken Police spotted a car parked in a way that blocked traffic on Sinatra Drive. The officer turned on his siren hoping the driver would move, but there was no response. When the officer got out of his patrol car, he saw the driver was asleep behind the wheel. He approached and made contact with her. She was later identified as Eileny.Officer Losurdo noticed her eyes were red, watery, and bloodshot. There were other signs she might be impaired. She told him she was waiting for her boyfriend but refused to cooperate or show her driver's license and registration. More officers arrived—Roberto Cuevas and Alyssa Rivera—to help with field sobriety tests.Officer Cuevas started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Next, they asked her to walk in a straight line for the Walk and Turn test. But Eileny refused again and made excuses not to do the tests. Feeling she wasn’t being cooperative, Officer Cuevas ended the exercises.Because of her signs of intoxication and her refusal to comply, she was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. The police then impounded her car for 12 hours, as required by John’s Law. They took her to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing.At the station, she was read her rights and the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She refused to give a breath sample. A check of her records showed multiple previous arrests for DWIs and other crimes. Her history of DWIs means she is not allowed to drive without an ignition interlock device.Eileny received several citations. She was charged with operating under the influence, refusing to give a breath sample, and refusing to consent to breath testing. She was also ticketed for reckless driving, driving slowly to block traffic, and refusing to install an interlock device. Additionally, she was cited for illegal parking under Ordinance 190-03. She was later released to a sober adult and scheduled to appear in court.Records show her past DWI arrests in New Jersey on these dates and places: August 11, 2021, in Fairview; July 30, 2020, in Union City; December 29, 2019, in Union City; June 21, 2019, in Fort Lee; and August 4, 2018, in West New York.
