On July 21, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a hit and run accident. Officers interviewed the 30-year-old victim and noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her person. Officers asked the woman to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After the tests, she was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor (DWI). At the police station, she submitted to breath samples. The results on both breath samples were 0.18% BAC. This elevated her charge to Aggravated DWI. On November 20, 2024, she pleaded guilty and her sentence was deferred.
