"Come on, I've got $4,000 in my pocket. Please, man. Can y'all please just let me go." Michael A. Taylor, 25, of Zion, IL, was arrested on October 22, 2024, after a traffic stop near the Dollar General at 914 Sheridan Rd, Winthrop Harbor, IL. Prosecutors allege Taylor tried to bribe an officer with $4,000 to avoid arrest, subsequently committing aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting arrest causing injury. Charges: Bribery (Class 2 felony), Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer (Class 2 felony), and Resisting a Peace Officer causing injury (Class 4 felony). Following a traffic stop, Taylor allegedly attempted to bribe an officer with $4,000 to avoid being arrested. During the encounter, he acted aggressively, resulting in injuries to a peace officer. The incident was captured on bodycam footage. The case is being handled by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. At a November 2024 hearing, Lake County Judge Ari Fisz revoked Taylor's pre-trial release in four other pending Lake County cases, citing his history of failing to appear in court and committing new offenses while on release.
