On April 1 2021, Alachua County Sheriff's Deputy Shon McGuigan observed a Chevy Suburban being driven by 33 year old suspect Matthew Richardson run a stop sign. The vehicle struck a curb before fleeing from the deputy. It was later discovered that Mr. Richardson was on probation for D.U.I. and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. His license was previously revoked. Mr. Richardson was charged with Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, Reckless Driving and Citrus County has also advised they will be filing a violation of probation charges.
