Fayetteville, Arkansas ***On 11/6/2022, Cpl. Levi Samuels (347) and I were dispatched to a burglary in progress call. According to dispatch, the caller returned to her home and located an unknown and unwelcome male sleeping inside her bedroom. We arrived at 0155 and were met outside the home by the caller and her two friends. After they briefly explained the circumstances, Cpl. Samuels asked for permission to enter the residence, which was granted. After entering the residence, we found a male sleeping in a bed inside the downstairs bedroom. After turning on the bedroom lights, Cpl. Samuels introduced our presence as Fayetteville Police Officers; however, the male inside the bed continued to sleep. Cpl. Samuels retrieved the male's identification (John Tyson) from his pants, which were located on the floor near the bed. After multiple verbal attempts to wake the male, he eventually sat up; however, he laid back down and continued to close his eyes. As a result, Cpl. Samuels and I removed the blankets and placed him into handcuffs. During this time, the male appeared disoriented and confused. For example, he repeatedly stated "no" and would not place his arms behind his back and locked his arms out when assisted. Eventually, we successfully and safely applied wrist restraints (checked for fit/double locked). During initial contact with Tyson, I could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from his person. In addition, Tyson appeared disoriented and displayed slow and sluggish movements while being escorted out of the residence. While walking towards the police unit, Tyson requested to use the restroom. After placing Tyson in the back of the patrol unit, I asked Ford to walk inside to help identify which items belonged to Tyson. Inside the living room/kitchen area, we located a pair of boots and a sweater that belonged to Tyson. Furthermore, we gathered his pants and shirt that were disrobed in the bedroom. Before leaving, the caller requested that we clear the entire residence to ensure there were no more unwelcome intruders inside. After clearing the house, Cpl. Samuels and I transported Tyson to the WCSO jail. We arrived at 0207, and Tyson was prepared for booking.***
