A following-too-close warning on Interstate 40, just before midnight. The driver said there was nothing illegal in the truck and signed the consent form himself — then the deputy walked up on three containers of kitty litter in the back. 🎥 In today's copyrighted documentary, we report on an incident that occurred on Navajo County, Arizona. A deputy with the Navajo County Sheriff's Office Criminal Interdiction Unit was working in the high desert between Holbrook and Winslow, when he clocked a pickup following less than two seconds behind the truck ahead of it. He told the driver up front it was a warning — no ticket, no fine, no court date. The driver, 48-year-old Moises Salas Jimenez of Albuquerque, said he was a plumber headed to Phoenix for his daughter's nineteenth birthday and would be back in three days. The conversation that follows runs long and stays cordial, the deputy switching between English and Spanish to explain the following-distance rule. He then told the driver about the second half of his job — criminal interdiction — and ran the standard list of questions. Weapons? No. Cash over ten thousand? No. Anything illegal in the vehicle? "None," the driver said. "Never. I'm Christian." Asked for voluntary consent to search the truck, he agreed, and signed the form on camera. According to the deputy's own account on the body camera, what he had already noticed on his approach was three containers of cat litter in the truck bed — one of them partially open, and an odd load for a plumber on a three-day trip. According to the sheriff's office, the containers held vacuum-sealed packages totaling roughly 34.1 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $618,700. On the recording, the deputy tells another officer he has found a load hidden this same way before — fentanyl powder buried under dirty litter. Court records show Salas Jimenez was booked into the Navajo County Jail on three felony counts under Arizona's dangerous drug statutes: transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, and possession of dangerous drugs. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Traffic Stop Begins 01:13 Warning and Small Talk 02:03 Step Out and Questions 04:52 Trip Details Shift 06:28 VIN Check Suspicion 07:02 Interdiction Questions 08:12 Consent Search Signed 10:25 K9 Backup Arrives 12:30 Kitty Litter Meth Found 17:24 Seizure Charges Wrap Up 📺 MORE LIKE THIS — watch the latest Breaking Bodycams documentaries: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL89-g15XsVc0WxE8UISQXCrCctoEPo46v 📌 ABOUT BREAKING BODYCAMS Breaking Bodycams covers law enforcement encounters across the country, with a heavy focus on the Southwest and New Mexico.
